Creative Writing: Foundation Writer Program
Instructor: Tino M.
The recipe to become a skilled creative writer is simple: read more and write more.
In this class students will respond to various prompts, encouraged to write without overthinking it. We will also discuss short stories from my favorite contemporary authors, including Neil Gaiman, George Saunders, T.C. Boyle, Haruki Murakami, Lydia Davis, Aimee Bender and plenty of others. Students will identify what works well in fiction and recreate it in their own work with their own style. At the end of the course we will create a little storybook with polished pieces from each student.
About the teacher: Teacher Tino is experienced and passionate about helping students discover and hone their writing skills. Tino works in tech sector and spends his free time writing his novel about food culture. Tino was born and raised in Palo Alto, and graduated with honors in English from Whitman college.
