Zero Robotics Middle School Summer Program: Sponsored by MIT Space Systems Lab & NASA
Exciting opportunity for middle schoolers! Gallant Academy will be hosting Zero Robotics Middle School Summer Program, sponsored by MIT and partnered with the MIT Space Systems Lab, the LLC, and Aurora Flight Sciences. This innovative and inspiring program is truly out of this world! Our STEM curriculum introduces computer programming, robotics, and space engineering, and provides hands-on experience programming SPHERES for middle school students!
- Students will learn computer programming, robotics and space engineering
- Provide hands-on experience of programming SPHERES.
- Culminate in a middle school tournament sponsored by NASA and MIT where winning teams compete aboard the International Space Station (ISS)
Public Speaking
This summer, our unique Public Speaking and Speech program will develop your student’s inner “speaker” talents. The course will help students become comfortable, confident and effective in delivering speeches at various public occasions.
We will teach the students proper rhetorical technique while also fostering their own voice in expressing their ideas.
- Teach the fundamentals of public speaking and argumentation, critical thinking, research and expository writing
- Learn effective ways to communicate their ideas, build presentation skills and confidence
- Learn tips to battle communication apprehension and leave the workshop with significant practice speaking in front of a group
Digital Media: Photoshop & Journalism
- Learn to use complex graphics programs, online technologies and computer peripherals
- Gain working knowledge of industry standard digital media software
- Complete 3 digital media projects and share via online portfolio
- Use creative confidence to become Content Creators to produce new and professional digital media
Geometry

Algebra 2/Trig
• The teacher with a CalTech Ph.D in Physics, has many years of teaching math and physics at high-school and college levels
• Designed to cover topics presented in high school honors lane math
• Targeted for accelerated students who plan to maximize the amount of mathematics studied in high school
• Students will study, in depth, the 6 trigonometric, solve equations and applications, and graph basic and translated trigonometric functions.
• Additional topics include solving triangles, defining and solving equations with inverse trigonometric functions, and proving and applying trigonometric identities.
Intro to Web App
• A beginning course for web application development
• Learn programing using JavaScript
• Build a few simple web applications as we learn the related technologies – from a simple static app to more complicated dynamic applications.
